tuTtOoDu ToottuDoo

At first; this looked pretty simple ad, but now it's catching up.
I liked the concept of suddenly standing up and saying "tuTtOoDu ToottuDoo" and now planning to implement it during...

In long, boring meetings, presentations and Weekly teleconferences
In BusTrain en-route to home
In office library, Cubicles
In Cinema Halls, Banks and public toilets
Some of Friend's upcoming wedding.

After all; why walk alone, when we can dance together....

P.S. This is not an endorsement post.

Ajeeb Dastan Hain Yeh

You ask a girl to sing a song (Hindi Movie song) and 70% chances that the girl end up singing song "Ajeeb Dastan Hain Yeh"
This is an outstanding observation by my ex-roomie Nilesh and it holds true.
Talking in Dus Ka Dum language then
"Kitne pratishad bhartiya mahila gana gane ko kehane pe 'Ajeeb dastan hain yeh' gaana gati hain?"
and I am sure the window will settle somewhere between 60-70%

Isn't this really an Ajeeb Dastan?

Hmm..

'Hmm..'
very often used and mostly worked expression on messenger. It does not carry any meaning by itself. But helps a lot as in...

a: "R u still in office?"
b: "Hmm.."
a: "Busy kya?"
b: "Hmm.."
a: "Ok, ttyl"
b: "Hmm..."

or..

c:"I love you"
b: "Hmm..."
c: "Do you love me?"
b: "Hmm.."

or..

d: "You write nice blogs.."
b: "Hmm.."
d: "Most of your posts have been posted during office time"
b: "Hmm.."
d: "Don't u have any work?"
b: "Hmm.."

"Now don't you think it's quite lame post?"
Hmm..

Just when we thought that we have seen enough.
Mrs. Jaya Sawant (Rakhi Sawant's maa) is in Big Boss 3.

Wake up S'tup'ID!

Well the problem with 'Wake up SID!' is that you just can not stop comparing it with 'Lakshya' Both of these movies share same premises and that hurt the overall impact of this movie.
Life for Mr. Sid Mehra (Ranbir) is continuous party, he doesn't care what happen next as long as he is having some FUN. Problem here is, the FUN part of the movie is not-so-funny. In the start of the movie, there is 1 scene where Sid starts dreaming during the exam paper about his friends. Honestly this scene is brilliantly taken and actually set up the tone of the movie. Unfortunately rest of the movie never live up to that expectations.
However this FUN in Sid's life soon gets a full stop when he bumped in his final exams. His angry father asked him to leave the house and to lead his OWN life by his OWN way. Suddenly Sid find himself all by his OWN except the NEW GIRL IN THE CITY Aisha (Konkana Sharma).
Aisha came from Kolkata to live an independent life in this city. Finds Sid as a good friends in her very first night-out.
Movie takes very convenient path, soon Sid gets an intern job in Mumbai weekly and his photography work gets well appreciated. Konkana also shows glimpses of her talent while working as a personal assistant of the weekly editor. Her article got selected so as Sid's photograph for Mumbai Beat's issue. At the end everything works fine.
So easy and so Simple...sadly life isn't so easy...Perhaps for Karan Johar's production it is.
Sid's struggle is too little to show and mostly it takes Taare Zameen Par road in first half. The saving factor of the movie is it's casting. Ranbir as a Sid is too effortless, either he is too good actor or there is too much of Sid in him. Konkana is good as always but I am kind of tired looking her in similar type of role. Simple, sensible, middle class girl (Metro, Luck By Chance, Page3 and now in WUS). And we have Rahul Khanna, he bags yet another loser role after Love Aaj Kal...nothing more to tell about him. The supporting cast includes Sid's parents, friends and Aisha's neighbours are spot on and do their jobs honestly.
Music by Shankar Ehsan and Loy is bit let down and sounds quite monotonous. Amit Trivedi however does a nice job in background score as well as composing soulful 'Iktara' song.
Now some foot notes.
  • I spent 240 bucks for this movie in Fun Republic, Andheri. Oh yeah! ticket rates in Mumbai are sky high for no reasons and they also sell Samosa for 99 bucks.
  • Soon after the movie we went to Eternity Mall and there we saw the guy who played Sid's friends role in the movie,Rishi (Namit Das) this guy was more charming in his Vodafone ad than here.
  • I heard about Ranbir's craze amongst teenage girls but this time I got an opportunity to witness. There was bunch of 7\8 college girls sitting next to us and they were constantly reacting, appreciating and annoying enjoying whatever came from Ranbir.
  • Wake Up Sid isn't a bad movie but could have been better for sure.
  • The credit goes to Karthik for the title of this post....
