Backlog

I am kind of tired writing really small posts, but then I have received the feedback that my earlier posts were really long and most of readers (I know, there are really few) lose the interest in between. Decline in # of comments for posts is another reason for it.....It's quite lame to ask people to comment on your posts...but couple of lines about it will do no harm.
Just now I have realized that I will soon write my 50th post...in fact I did since many of them are still as drafts and I do not dare to publish it....Even some of my published posts I found quite supid after sometime, but there are few; who liked it the way IT IS so I have kept it...
There isn't a new movie review here for
some of recently watched movies...
These days I am writing reviews for my project's daily digest...
I have seen London Dreams, Ajab Prem Ki..., Tum Mile , Kurbaan and 2012 for last Month. None of them I liked so much....but still snippets of these movie reviews...
Starting with the last movie I have seen..

2012 is as silly as 'Mein hu na!' with 3000% better special effects. This quite sum up the story...
12-21-12 (21st Dec 2012) is the date when world gonna come to an end mainly through earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and tsunamis. Now it's USA's duty to save the world (yet again)! but this time with due credit to 1 Indian astrophysics scientist and many Chinese workers.
I should not complain about the mayhem and destruction shown, you can see Vatican, Eiffel Tower coming down, even white house is getting screwed and 2KM high tsunami waves..I do not know how much sense does it make but the special effects are top notch, hands down.
Like any other disaster movie we have broken marriage, strain in father-son relationship, a fully equipped control room, a selfish\egoistic senator\Vice President\Army chief from USA, confrontation with a son just before father is going to do die. Now we have seen it all. 2012 has the same, 'been here done that' attitude, no matter how big is the wave, how deadly the earthquake, our daddy!!(John Cussack) will come out of it without a single scratch....as I said, as senseless as 'Mein Hu Naa!' but a good entertainer.

Kurbaan, claims to be quite sensitive movie, but I found it as a cheesy thriller. I was quite tired during that time (why?? that story sometime later) and by the time movie came to an end I was totally down. Even Kareena's seducing song (yes, she grabbed one more 'bebo mein bebo' types) could not change a thing. The movie has smart take on terrorism, rational islam etc etc. But again haven't we seen all this in NewYork? Wish there was more Diya Mirza and less Viveik Oberoi. Saif and Kareena are good, I liked the music specially background score of the movie.

Tum Mile claims to be based on true events happened during 26th July 05 Mumbai flood and I was obviously really curious about the movie. 26th July 05 is an ideal example of how disaster management is absolutely in no place for mega-cities in our countries. And someone being from one of the worst hit areas, I have personally seen the chaos. The water logged well about 8 feet, stranded passengers at railways stations, army choppers throwing food packets, no electricity for 1 week and no landline phones for 1 month or so. That is something I can hardly forget.
However Tum Mile just flashes through all these things because basically it is a romantic movie between Akshay (Emraan) and Sanjana (Soha Ali) who were living in Cape town and how their egos and career aspirations set them apart. Now after 6 long years, they are back together in very unlikely situation. And again rediscover the love during unprecedented Mumbai Rain. It is an uneven journey where some parts are really interesting and few make you yawn. Pritam’s music is melodious and lead pair share really good chemistry.

The story of Ajab Prem Ki Gajab Kahani is as old as it gets. Prem (Ranbir) is a 9th class fail, kind hearted, unemployed chap who runs a local happy club, Genie (Katrina) is a new in town girl who works in library, for Prem it’s love at first sight. Then where is the problem? Well it’s same old. Genie loves Rahul (Upen Patel) who is reach and well qualified but their families are not ready for this marriage. Then our hero Prem decides to help Genie and Rahul. During this journey Genie discovers the true love and story ends with an obvious climax. APKGK is a madcap romantic comedy which gets silly at most of the time. What works here is an effortless performance by Ranbir and chemistry between our lead pair. Ranbir plays a Prem- a too sweet character who can give even a cotton candy run for it's money. Katrina, as usual, looks great talks less. Music goes with the mood of the movie. Santoshi should have never tried to repeat the 'crime master GOGO' character, anyways this movie has the hangover of Andaz Apna Apna, but it just never reaches the class.

London dreams remind me those typical Bollywood flicks of 70's and 80's where 2 close friends share the same passion, dream and same love. Here two friends are Arjun (Ajay Devgan) and Manu (Salman Khan) who are connected with Music, but where Arjun realizes his dream well in childhood, Manu takes quite long time. Arjun has a band named London Dreams (obviously in London) along with Priya (Asin) and 2 other Pakistani guitarists. Manu joins Arjun’s band to add extra Desi beats to it. Soon Manu starts getting more popularity than Arjun and Arjun starts losing his patience. Then the movie follows the routine path of betrayal, sacrifice and commitments which end up into an obvious climax. The movie should have made with at least 10 years younger actors, Ajay Devgan and Salman shine in their respective roles but can’t deny the fact that they are too old to suit the rockstar image. Asin has hardly any role in a movie. Ranvijay and Aditya Kapoor, 2 VJs have made a thankless debut. Special accolades to Shankar Ehsaan and Loy for their rocking music (by now it is their forte’). Vipul Shah came again with full of melodrama...sometime he is able to pull it of but sometimes he loses the grip. Watch it on your own risk.

Now, do not stop me here, I got some more....

BLUE: Yes, it's Akshay Kumar again (Thank god I did not spoil my Diwali eve by planning for this movie). I watched it's TV premier on 'Colors'. Akshay Kumar...your movies sucks.

Quickgun Murugun: I watched it's TV premier on 'Star Gold'. and Frankly I was expecting some more....it was hardly any fun. Direction was amateurish and I have overall found the movie too clumsy. Few laboured laughs here and there otherwise the original show was far better.

Life Partner: I watched it's TV premier on 'Star Gold'. This was surprise, as I was expecting very little from the movie. But the movie pulls of few genuine laughs. Govinda is effortless and Mr. Lawyer Lawyer and even otherwise headache Tusshar Kapoor entertains as typical Gujju guy.
