Love AajKal is a clash between Burger and Vada-Paav. And what we learnt out of movie is at the end of the day no matter what you eat. It's same potato and it's a same paav.
Now let me bring you back to the movie. Imtiaz Ali is one of the smartest director of today's time. The common link between all his previous movies is (Socha na tha, Jab We Met and Love Aajkal) his lead pair is always confused with what they want. Lead pair here is Jai and Meera (Saif and Deepika ) who decide to break up their year long relationship after coming to understand that long distance relationship wont work in their case. Meera decides to pursue her career of art restoration in Delhi and Jai sticks to his London job.
The kahani mein TWIST comes when they figure out how cozy they are with each other even after the break-up. There enter Veer (Rishi Kapoor in yet another lovable role) who brings Vada Paav in their Burgerchhap life. Veer narrates Jai, his 1960's romance with Harleen. The charm, innocence of illogical (or dillogical love). Jai often makes fun of Veer's love story and find it foolish most of the time. Meanwhile both Jai and Meera decide to MOVE ON with their lives and find a new partner respectively.
But things did not go as per PLAN, Jai and Meera still find hard to forget each other. And in fact enjoy more when they re-unite in Delhi. But as they realize that things might get complicated again. Meera decides to tie knots with her colleague (Rahul Khanna). As Meera finds her partner Jai goes on to live his dream of Golden Gate in San Fransisco.
It takes a while for both of them to realize actually they are madly in love with each other and Veer-Harleen's love story help them to understand it. Love AajKal has got glimpses of many movies, Hum Tum, Jab We Met, DDLJ etc etc. But still director able to pull off a light hearted feel good movie.
The movies sends out a message that it's ok to act foolishly and to be illogical in love, It's fine to shed some tears when you are hurt and long distance relationship might work.
It hits to right cords since the movie got it's heart at right place.
Few misses though, Deepika Padukone is a biiiiiiig let down and I just cant stop comparing her with Kareena. Watch out Kareena in similar kind of role in 'Yuvaa', Maan!! that lady got the magic, In this movie whenever someone compliments Meera she says "I know!" she might know that she has got one of the most gorgeous smile but she doesn't know that she just cant act. So whatever we have seen in Om Shanti Om was actually a GHOST of Shantipriya ???
Saif pulls of both the Jai and Veer characters very well. Jai's character was a cake walk for him, we have seen him in such cool dude roles in most of his movies, What surprises is the charm he has added in Veer's character. Rishi Kapoor is slowly becoming a most charismatic character artiste of all time. Pritam hits the right tunes (even though some are INSPIRED ones)
Now if you enjoy chatting with your friends in CCD, you often flirt in chat rooms and if you find calling AAM JANTA as Mango People is 'cool'. You will love this movie. because being an Indian we love Burger and Vada-Paav both....aahun aahun!!!
