7 KM

7 KM aka 7 Khoon Maaf reminds me the 7 KM walk, I took from Malshej Ghar to Harishchandra Garh during one of our trek, to start with 7 KM is long...just as long as walking 7 KM straight in sunny bright day. Nevertheless it has its own moments, just the way you enjoy with your friends on long walks. You sing along, You enjoy the scenery, you halt down to take a rest and then start over.
7 KM has everything, Panchgani, Kashmir, Russia, Pondechery, Snakes, Horses, Snow Cat, Man eating Panther,Vodka, Viagra, One legged army officer, rockstar, russian spy, poet, Police Officer, Doctor and still by end of the movie, you feel something is missing. Now, that's a lot to take and a lot to miss.
To cut the long story short, 7KM is suffered with Vishal Bharadwaj's previous work, you expect a lot from him and he is difinitely fall short of it. Even if you do not expect much, the movie just might entertain you in it's 154 minutes running time. So is it black comedy? Thriller? or a Drama? Well the genre is undefined and that's where you feel cheated. I for one enjoyed 3 stories out of 7, may be for it's cheesyness or the good performances by it's ensemble cast.
Susana's quest for love with her 7 husbands could have been interesting and nevertheless it gets engaging for few times. However when it comes to KHOON part, that is mostly lame and so damn predictable. Every time new husband is introduced, you know how he is going to die. At least 5 times I could correctly predict the same.
So is it all bad movie? NO, but One should not expect so much from it. Sadly Priyanka's character Susanna is as hollow as Aisha played by Sonam Kapoor few months back. In spite being a protagonist Susanna fails to pull any kind of apathy. For rest of the cast, I liked the stories involving Irfan Khan, Anu Kapoor and Russian Guy...but those are far few in between. PC is honest to her role and delivers what she has been asked to. Vivan Shah looks like Indian Harry Potter but acts well. Rest of the cast are to the point. Music by VB is good as always and lives with you for a while. Movie however do not.
