Kya Aap?

Random Post again...
I have always criticized and been criticized for having soft corner for some lame reality shows. But boy o boy 'Sach Ka Samna' (Copied from MOMENT OF TRUTH) and 'Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao' (Copied from I M Celebrity Get me Out of Here) kick some serious ***.
Now I know, everything is scripted...but who cares? we all enjoyed TITAN's Cup. That reminded me the smart movie I watched (and Missed out to write review of it) 99' quite a cheesy flick that can be enjoyed with bunch of pop-corns ( and if you can tolerate Soha Ali Khan) The movie was quite an amalgamation of match fixing, arrival of mobile fone, some street smart people and some really serious gambling. Boman Irani (who otherwise on verge of becoming Anupam Kher), Mahesh Manjarekar (as awesome crazy gangster) and few amazing supporting cast made that movie really enjoyable. There was Cyrus Brocha also in the movie, an otherwise funny Cyrus (watch that guy rocking Week That Wasn't on CNN IBN) was quite lack lustre in the movie....OK so where were we?
Sach Ka Samna (hence forth referred as SKS), Meena Shah a lady in her late 40's confessed about her extra marital affairs and troubled childhood and believe me without any drama. I secretly wish the SKS should have been hosted by Prabhu Chawla. He is one bloody loser. Watch him while interviewing Rakhi Sawant he behaves as he is holding an ice cream cone in his hand...OK so back to SKS, I might be quite insensitive while watching and in fact enjoying while a lady and her family getting restless (uncomfortable and quite embarrassed) over the camera but that is what something they have asked for. Urvashi Dholakia (Kamolika from Kasauti Jindagi Ki) confessed that she enjoys watching naked men, and Bobby Darling is actually bald.
BTW have you observed that people have better display pics for their facebook account than that for orkut (Including me)? I wonder why few married couples keep their 'together photo' for display? In fact few overly loved couples deleted their individual accounts and created a new joint account. Now that's too much of KJO effect.
There were 3 weddings and an engagement in my project in last week. And every invitation came with a punchline.."Aap Shadi Kab Karoge?" People around me are getting engaged\committed\married left right and centre. And why your public holidays comes on weekends? I haven't been to Mumbai for almost 3 months now, and if I do not plan for it before Diwali. I might miss entire Mumbai Monsoon. Now that's something I have been missing for last 4 years now Mumbai Monsoon and Trekking....Trekking...not that I have been a serious trekker but that is something every Mumbaikar (age 17-33) would like to boast about. Self boasting reminded me Vivek Oberoi, Poor chap! he personifies the saying "Dhobi Ka Kutta" now he is neither with Aish nor with Bollywood. Was 'Mission Istanbul' was his last release? Luckily I have not seen it. I have not seen 'Luck' either. Few people think watching HINDI movies in theatre is downmarket and I think I should stop here. This post is getting really lengthy and boring and I got meeting as well...Oh here comes the pop up.
P.S. title 'KYA AAP?' has nothing to do with content of this post. But could not think of anything else.

Rakhi Ka Swayamvar

Well 'Rakhi Ka Swayamvar' finally got over. History says after Seeta she is the only one who arranged her own SWAYAMVAR...way to go Rakhi...what we got next?? Rakhi Ki Bidaai, Rakhi Ki Godh Bharai and even worse ...Rakhi Ka Honeymoon?

Rakhi found her groom, NDTV Imagine finally got some TRPs and I screwed up 3 weeks of my life [9-10 PM on weekdays].

Rakhi selected NRI Businessman from Canada as her would be. The only positive I can see out of this is if she actually marries Elesh she might settle down in Canada. Something that entire India is looking forward.

P.S. The latest news says that Elesh is actually looking forward to settle down in Mumbai :-(

Burger Meets Vada-Paav_Love AajKal reviewed

Love AajKal is a clash between Burger and Vada-Paav. And what we learnt out of movie is at the end of the day no matter what you eat. It's same potato and it's a same paav.
Now let me bring you back to the movie. Imtiaz Ali is one of the smartest director of today's time. The common link between all his previous movies is (Socha na tha, Jab We Met and Love Aajkal) his lead pair is always confused with what they want. Lead pair here is Jai and Meera (Saif and Deepika ) who decide to break up their year long relationship after coming to understand that long distance relationship wont work in their case. Meera decides to pursue her career of art restoration in Delhi and Jai sticks to his London job.
The kahani mein TWIST comes when they figure out how cozy they are with each other even after the break-up. There enter Veer (Rishi Kapoor in yet another lovable role) who brings Vada Paav in their Burgerchhap life. Veer narrates Jai, his 1960's romance with Harleen. The charm, innocence of illogical (or dillogical love). Jai often makes fun of Veer's love story and find it foolish most of the time. Meanwhile both Jai and Meera decide to MOVE ON with their lives and find a new partner respectively.
But things did not go as per PLAN, Jai and Meera still find hard to forget each other. And in fact enjoy more when they re-unite in Delhi. But as they realize that things might get complicated again. Meera decides to tie knots with her colleague (Rahul Khanna). As Meera finds her partner Jai goes on to live his dream of Golden Gate in San Fransisco.
It takes a while for both of them to realize actually they are madly in love with each other and Veer-Harleen's love story help them to understand it. Love AajKal has got glimpses of many movies, Hum Tum, Jab We Met, DDLJ etc etc. But still director able to pull off a light hearted feel good movie.
The movies sends out a message that it's ok to act foolishly and to be illogical in love, It's fine to shed some tears when you are hurt and long distance relationship might work.
It hits to right cords since the movie got it's heart at right place.
Few misses though, Deepika Padukone is a biiiiiiig let down and I just cant stop comparing her with Kareena. Watch out Kareena in similar kind of role in 'Yuvaa', Maan!! that lady got the magic, In this movie whenever someone compliments Meera she says "I know!" she might know that she has got one of the most gorgeous smile but she doesn't know that she just cant act. So whatever we have seen in Om Shanti Om was actually a GHOST of Shantipriya ???
Saif pulls of both the Jai and Veer characters very well. Jai's character was a cake walk for him, we have seen him in such cool dude roles in most of his movies, What surprises is the charm he has added in Veer's character. Rishi Kapoor is slowly becoming a most charismatic character artiste of all time. Pritam hits the right tunes (even though some are INSPIRED ones)
Now if you enjoy chatting with your friends in CCD, you often flirt in chat rooms and if you find calling AAM JANTA as Mango People is 'cool'. You will love this movie. because being an Indian we love Burger and Vada-Paav both....aahun aahun!!!
