Bring Back Indipop!!! - Nostalgia Post

May be today's generation...'wHo TyPe Lik Dis' and say 'mah' for 'my'; may not understand what I am talking about, but there was something called Indipop did exist in this world. It was time when MTV (much before Rodies -1.0 aired and idea of Splitsvilla was far away) just started to show Hindi Songs. And people used to wait for Countdown shows like Superhit Muqabla and Philips Top-10.
We saw some amazing music came from a parallel industry, perhaps the Bollywood Music was going dogs that time. But, yes and we did see rise and fall of Indipop याची देहि याची डोळा [with this very soul, with this very eyes]

This is how it all started.....time to get nostalgic and remember some of veterans...Remo Fernandes- you can simply call him a hippy from Goa but he has kind of started all this with great support from likes of Alisha Chinoy and Baba Sehgal. Today Baba might sound out of sync or simply stupid but he did rocked in early 90's hosting Superhit Muqabla and giving Indians a taste of rap music and a must mention of Rukmani Rukmani from Roja. Those were the days when viewers used write postcards to PO Box number xyz. And lucky draws has been taken to find out who are the winners. And there was Alisha making all MADE IN INDIA songs. There are just too many and too good names to mention....here is few on top my mind.

Are u an indipop or private music album/video lover? Don't u wanna get them back? If yes, please support us. We are actually going to launch a weekly podcasting service that'll primarily focus on promoting indian indie (independent) and non-mainstream culture including indi-pop music, non-bollywood films, advertisements, comedy, fashion, literature, etc. But to make all these things happen, we do need your help and support. So plzz, if my message excites u do let me know. We'll be eagerly waiting for your reply. Thank u so much! Actually I'm a music enthusiast and that's why I've decided to do something regarding this. I, along with some of my friends, have planned to launch a weekly internet show in which we'll talk about things like the indipop industry, it's demise, piracy, shutting down of major music labels such as crescendo and magnasound (finally crescendo is back and magnasound's managing director Mr. Shashi Gopal is all set to restart it), why we need to get the industry back, new artists (like Shruti Pathak, Jaz Dhami, Neha Bhasin, Arpita Mukherjee, Sandeep Batra, Abhijeet Sawant, Shibani Kashyap, Aasmaa band, Papon, Sujata Majumdar, Vikas Bhalla, etc) & veteran artists and bands (like Anaida, Sonu Nigam, Apache Indian, Raageshwari, Euphoria, Mehnaz, Alisha Chinai, Gary Lawyer, Pentagram band, etc) who still produce quality indie music but don’t get television or radio airplays, artistaloud (a digital platform powered by hungama digital that promotes private music digitally), why television and radio don't support non-bollywood music anymore and will try to provide solutions to various indie related issues. We'll also feature interviews with various people from the indipop industry. Lastly, we'll get in touch with various television channels and fm stations and ask them what our listeners wanna know..Please let me know if you are interested, also reply if it's a no! We are also available on facebook, https://www.facebook.com/indianindiemusic is our page link. If you think that this project is gonna bring a revolution in the music industry, please give it a like and keep posting your comments and views on this. We’d love to get all of u as active members and all of your messages will be read out on our shows. For more details, please contact me on facebook (deejaysubhadeep@gmail.com). You can also drop me a call @ 9831275076. Thanks again!
